What is Rose Gold?.
Fine (pure) gold is a yellow metal. Fine gold is generally considered too soft for the production of jewellery and is therefore combined with other metals to produce an alloy. The selection of other metals in the alloy depends on practical and aesthetic considerations such as pliability or colour. In any 9ct. gold alloy the proportion of gold to other metals is 9:24 or 37.5% fine gold. In any 18ct. alloy, the proportion is 18:24 or 75% fine gold. Jewellery referred to as 'Rose Gold' is produced from a brass-rich alloy that contributes to the Rose colour effect. Rose gold is also known as Red gold.
